Civil Servants Speak Out about Federal Job Loss!
Join CWTA in supporting Jobs with Justice!
Federal workers are losing their jobs in massive layoffs dictated by the current administration. Nearly 45,000 federal workers live and work in the Chicago area. How will the shrinking of these agencies change your life?
The Workers’ Rights Board of Chicago Jobs with Justice presents a series of hearings on the affected workers, and on the loss to the public that their dismissal will cause.
First up: The Social Security Administration and Industrial Federal Professional Technicians and Engineers. Does your job provide a generous pension? If not, you’ll probably need the Social Security Administration at some point. Do you like clean water? If so, you are currently benefiting from the work of the technicians and engineers.
Come to a hearing on Monday, February 24th from 5:30 – 7 p.m. to learn about what these agencies provide to the public, what the workers’ experiences are, and what changes the massive reduction in the work force will cause you. There will be plenty of time for you to ask questions and to share your own experiences.
This will be a hybrid event: in person at 333 S. Ashland Ave in Chicago and on zoom. To register use the QR code at the bottom.
This hearing will be followed in the near future by hearings on the work of the departments of Health and Human Services, the Veterans Administration, the Housing and Urban Development and the Food and Drug Administration. With questions, please call Rinda West, Co-Chair, Workers’ Rights Board at 773-575-1205
